In these Terms, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to Barons Car Hire, and “you” or “your” refers to you as the user of our website.
We may modify these Terms, for any reason at any time, by posting a new version on our website; these changes do not affect the rights and obligations that arose prior to such changes. Your continued use of the website following the posting of modified Terms will be subject to the Terms in effect at the time of your use. Please review these Terms periodically for changes. If you object to any provision of these Terms or any subsequent modifications of these Terms or become dissatisfied with our website in any way, your only recourse is to immediately terminate use of our website.
SPEEDOMETERS: Tempered speedometers attract a minimum charge of 500km per day.
RATES: (a) Hire charge quote applies to Lilongwe Office collection and return. (b) Rates may change without notice.
CROSS BORDER: Vehicles are not to cross the border of Malawi without the consent of the company.
RENTAL EXTENSION: To extend, 24 hours' notice will be required.
DELIVERY TIME: Deliveries after 8:00pm attract an additional daily charge.
MINIMUM CHARGE: Minimum rental charge = 1 day.
Chauffeurs are available at the rate of MK5,000 per day within base and MK 15,000 per night (for food and accommodation) outside base. They are also entitled to MK1,500 per hour overtime when they are working outside normal hours.
A valid driver’s licence must be produced (foreign licences are accepted) and the age of hirer must range between 25 years (minimum) and 70 years (maximum). The licence holder must have at least three years of experience as a driver. Note that the car must be driven by the hirer or our chauffeur. A fine will be incurred if any accidents happen while one of cars is being driven by an unauthorized driver. Please request permission for an additional driver before hiring a car.
If extensions of the rentals beyond the original date are required, Barons Car Hire must be notified immediately.
The cost of fuel is not included in the hire rates. Vehicles may be delivered with full tanks and hirer pays for refilling on termination of contract.
Rates includes Third Party Liability Coverage ONLY. The hirer is still responsible for any damage done to our vehicle(s) caused by negligence or road condition or accident where no other vehicle is involved. A comprehensive insurance policy is available on request.
When taking delivery of the vehicle the renter is required to inspect the vehicle for proof that it has been delivered without damage to its paint work, upholstery, fittings and tools.
The vehicle shall be at the sole risk of the renter throughout the rental period. The renter shall be liable for loss or damage of the vehicle and for expenses incurred during recovery of the vehicle.
Accidents must be reported to the nearest police station as soon as possible. If there is an accident call our hotlines soon after a report to the police has been made.
In the event of a breakdown, call on Cell Number +265 999 950 917. If the breakdown is due to hirer's negligence, a charge will be made for recovery and rectification.
Chauffeurs are available at a cost of MWK5,000 per day during normal working hours, within Lilongwe.
Chauffeurs are available at an additional cost of MWK20,000 per night and is chargable if the driver is required to spend the night out of Lilongwe.
A minimum deposit equal to the daily charges of the rented vehicle for the rental duration will apply. This amount is payable in cash or a bank certified cheque will be required before taking delivery of the vehicle. Deposits can be waivered at management's direction or upon the hirer's presentation of surety. A grace period of 21 days (maximum) from the date of hire shall be given to the hirer to make payment.
